Copper Crucible | - Water-cooled copper crucible plate with one large capacity with several small cavities (Pic. 1). Please select cavity shape before ordering as follows:
- Round cavity: 70 mm diameter x 15 mm Depth
- Rectangular cavity: 200 mm L x 40mm W x 15 mm Depth
- Three 25mm dia. × 12.5 mm Deep small cavities are used for Ti melting to reduce the trace oxygen inside the chamber before processing, or small samples for < 20 g
- In order to melt the alloy uniformly, double side melting is required

Vacuum & Gas purification (Optional) | - The vacuum level is dependent on the vacuum pump (not included, please order separately)
- 10^-3 torr via a mechanical/roughing pump. (Roughing Pumps) (Pic. 1)
- 10^-5 torr via a turbopump. (Pic. 2)
- You may use a recirculating gas purification system to keep gas purity inside the chamber < 1 ppm O2 and H2O without turbopump. ( Pic. 3)

Application & Warning Notes | - 5N purity Ar gas is required for arc melting. A gas purification module is recommended to ensure gas purity. (click Pic.1 to order)
- A two-stage pressure regulator must be installed on the gas cylinder to limit the pressure to below 3 psi for safe operation. Click here to learn the installation of a gas regulator (Pic.2)
- To avoid any damages to the mechanical pump or turbopump, please install an Inline Particle Trap (maximum 1E-4 Torr vacuum with turbopump) on the pump inlet port (Pic. 3)
- Must Wear Welder Glass or Auto Welding Shade while observing the Arc while welding.
- The unit is designed for arc melting operation under tiny positive pressure or low vacuum (0.01 – 0.11 MPa pressure, or positive 0.01 MPa to negative 0.09 MPa pressure). Never operate the unit at high pressure!
- During the arc melting operation, never allow the electrode to touch the material or the copper crucible! Do not operate the mechanical manipulator during the melting process.
